Requirements to apply


  • You will have the opportunity to work in one of our offices abroad and to gain insight into one of the top accounting, tax and consulting companies in the world
  • You will be part of an Assurance, Tax & Legal or Advisory team working with real clients on real projects
  • As a member of the Assurance team you will assist in audits of international clients from different industry sectors and participate in audit and consolidation of the financial statement according to accounting standards
  • As a member of the Tax & Legal team you will assist in diverse consulting activities, be involved in the preparation of tax return documents, and perform specific tax research and analyses
  • As a member of the Advisory team you will assist in complex consulting projects of different industries, such as IT or Energy. You will carry out market, competitive and customer analyses as well as independent research assignments
  • You will be supported by the Stairway team throughout your entire experience to help you make the best of your time abroad
  • We will stay in contact with you through our ‘Keep In Touch’ (KIT) Program after your internship abroad until you graduate. You can stay up to date with the latest PwC network content and gain access to exclusive events and workshops.


  • You have completed the 3rd semester of your studies in Economics or Law with a focus on accounting, controlling, auditing, taxation, corporate finance, business information, banking management, economic engineering, economic mathematics or similar
  • You have gained practical experience in one or more of the areas required
  • In addition to your strong analytical skills that allow you to quickly comprehend and describe complex facts you have a good command of Excel and PowerPoint.

  • You are motivated and proactive while working in a team and independently
  • You have strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure

  • You are available for a 2-6 month internship and will be enrolled as a student during your time abroad

In order to apply, you need to complete the following steps:

  • Register on our application platform by clicking on the 'apply now' button below
  • Fill out the forms with personal data (step 1) and upload your attachments (step 6); CV and motivational letter are supposed to be in English, appendix can include documents in German or any original language
  • You can mention up to 3 preferred Stairway countries / locations
  • Make sure that your motivational letter includes your 3 preferred locations, your favourite line of service (Assurance, Tax & Legal or Advisory) and your available internship timeframe. Please note that we can only consider your application, if your preferred country / location matches the line of service as well as the timeframe.

We will try to consider you for your desired destination and line of service, but please understand that by applying for Stairway you apply for our international internship program in general and not directly for a specific country.

If you would like to gain even more practical experience than we can offer abroad, please also consider working within PwC Germany before or after your internship with Stairway. If you are interested, just let us know in your motivational letter.

The best candidates will be invited to the Stairway selection workshop, which takes place on April 6th and 7th 2017. Participating in the Stairway workshop is mandatory in order to be one of our future Stairway interns, so please save the date in your calendar.

Yes, the cover letter and the CV must be in English.
PwC will cover costs of a flight, your accommodation and a required visa. You will also be paid a monthly salary. So you only need to cover additional leisure costs.
We offer Stairway internships in all three of our core divisions: Assurance, Advisory, as well as Tax & Legal. The countries and periods available are shown in the summary.
You normally have to be enrolled as a student during the Stairway internship. An exemption may apply if you are between your bachelor’s and master’s degree. This needs to be agreed on an individual basis and depends on the type of a visa required.
You need to submit a CV and a cover letter in English. Please also attach all your certificates. These do not have to be translated into English.
You can only send us your country-preference listed as part of the Stairway programme. Please check that the country and period you are interested in match before applying.
We list the internships with all available periods. These are fixed and cannot normally be changed. However, you can check our website to find out whether another country is available for the period you want.
Unfortunately this is not possible under the Stairway programme.
The countries only offer the divisions indicated as part of the Stairway programme. However, you can also apply for an internship directly on the careers page of the relevant country, but you will not receive the Stairway benefits. For example, you would have to make your own arrangements for accommodation and pay for it as well.
